3D Camera Driver

3D video capture requires 2 independent video streams.  These feeds are combined into a single video stream in order to ensure that the left and right video frames are synchronized for the client.  This process is called multiplexing.

You can use the 3D Camera Driver as a normal camera with most Windows video applications.  These include capture programs and IM programs.  The video you capture is just like any other video except you will see the left and right frame in a single video frame.  You can edit and splice the video with any video editing software.

There are many 3D video formats available with the 3D Camera Driver.  This gives you the flexibility to use the webcam in full color 3D or with existing applications that do not support full color 3D.

FORMATS FOR FULL COLOR SUPPORT

  • Side by Side (full frame size) - 3DTV
  • Side by Side (half horizontal resolution) - 3DTV
  • Top-Bottom (full frame size)
  • Top-Bottom (half vertical resolution)

FORMATS FOR NON-FULL COLOR SUPPORT

  • Red-Cyan Anaglyph
  • Red-Blue Anaglyph
  • Amber-Blue Anaglyph (great for LCD)
  • Green-Magenta Anaglyph

Most capture applications allow users to edit the properties of their cameras to adjust output size, frame rate, color format, and other effects. On the right is an image of the properties page for the 3D Camera Driver.  There are options for the output format, frame rate, image copy mode, custom output size, and correction factors.

All of these camera properties are important to the output quality of your video.  The correction factors, in particular, are extremely important.  If set improperly, the 3D viewer will not have an enjoyable experience and may experience headaches.

The primary correction factors are horizontal and vertical correction.  These factors shift the input images in order to adjust for slight misalignment of the independent cameras.  These values are set by the Camera Connection Wizard.

Theta and barrel correction values are intended for users of the driver that provide their own cameras rather than the 3D webcam.
