3D Webcam Information

The webcam pictured has been developed exclusively by 3DT. With patent pending technology, this hi-resolution USB2 webcam provides out of the box 3D capture capabilities.

The camera comes with a suite of 3D applications and drivers:  3D Camera Driver, 3D Media Center, 3D Camera Sharing, ActiveX Control for viewing 3D in web pages.

Our 3D Camera Driver is a video capture source for your Windows computer.  When both webcams are attached to your Windows computer, this 3D Camera source will stream perferctly synchonized 3D to your video applications.
We also provide for sharing the 3D Camera source.  Many applications can access the camera at the same time.  For example, you can record your video with capture software while videoconferencing on Skype.

The sharing software comes with a tray application that let's you start your 3D Camera with the size and format you want before you start using your normal video software.  Consider 2 scenarios:

  1. You want to create 3D video for Youtube's new full color 3D feature.  Right click on the 3D Camera Sharing tray application and choose "Start 3D Camera."  A wizard will ask you for the type of application you want to use.  Choose Youtube.  This will produce side by side full color 3D video.  Now, open your favorite capture software and start recording, just like with a normal webcam.
  2. You want to Skype in 3D.  Skype does not yet support full color 3D.  So, you need to stream your video in anaglyph format (red/cyan, red/blue, etc.).  Right click on the 3D Camera Sharing tray application and choose "Start 3D Camera."  This time, choose one of the anaglyph formats for whatever color combination you prefer.  Start your skype videoconference.

The maximum quality that you can produce depends on your computer.  320x240 full color stereo at up to 30 frames per second is possible with most, if not all, computers built in the last 5 years.  640x480 full color stereo at 30 frames per second is possible with many of the computers built in the last 3 years.  It depends on your memory bus speed.  We have test machines that were built in 2003 that run 640x480/30fps while compressing video without any problems.

The cameras can function as 2 hi-resolution 2D webcams.  Each can be used independently for standard video applications.  There is an integrated microphone in the unit.
